Night Light 2002-2003

David Ward’s Night Light was the first temporary artwork commissioned for the iconic ‘prow’ of BBC Broadcasting House during its redevelopment. It was part of the BBC Broadcasting House Public Art Programme curated by Modus Operandi.
The south facing windows of the building were lit with a blue light from dusk until dawn, accompanied by a quote from Italo Calvino’s seminal book Invisible Cities:
‘Work stops at sunset.
Darkness falls over the building site.
The sky is filled with stars.
“There is the blueprint” they say’
